• Teaching Kids to CARE Program: CARE committee members volunteer at our local “adopted” elementary school. We mentor 3rd grade students with lessons of caring for our community, and work to make a meaningful difference for our world.
• Yellow Ribbon Fund: The Doubletree Bethesda has committed its support and partnership to the Yellow Ribbon Fund, which was created in early 2005 to assist disabled service members
  and their families in meeting life’s post-war challenges.
• The Children’s Inn at NIH: As the closest hotel to the NIH campus, we work together with the Children’s Inn to support their initiatives, including a night out for the parents and their children. Parents can relax at the opening reception while the children enjoy the Wii and Xbox machines in our Lava Room. A three-course meal in the Oz. Restaurant (including ice cream!) follows.

• Green Initiatives: In order to help protect our environment, we’ve signed a three-year agreement with Washington Gas Energy Services to provide us with 100% renewable green electricity, have reduced our use of plastic bottled water by offering purified water dispensing stations in our meeting centers, and exercise the green linen saving program for our longer term guests.
• Montgomery County Public Schools Educational Foundation: The children of Montgomery County are our future employees.  By supporting the MCPSEF, we are providing scholarship assistance to worthy children who would otherwise not be able to attend college. Additionally, MCPSEF provides small grants to assist teachers with special projects and technology needs to enrich the education our children receive.

• PURE: Our allergy-friendly hotel accommodations offer the latest in air quality and purification technologies available.In-room filtration systems remove air particles, while surfaces & equipment are treated to minimize the growth of bacteria. These hypoallergenic rooms are nearly 99.9% allergen-free, providing a restful night’s sleep. At the Doubletree Bethesda, we offer 56 PURE sleeping rooms and in addition, all of our meeting space is also treated to provide a comfortable, fresh meeting environment.
• GM HHonors Reception and Cooking Demo: Wednesday evenings, by special invitation, selected HHonors guests are invited to join the GM at the Wine Bar. Our Executive Chef then shares his recipes and knowledge as he provides a live cooking demo for all interested guests at the OZ’s show kitchen.
• Continuous Improvement Project (CIP): Our CIP committee reviews our guest comment card scores (random guest surveys) to focus on areas of improvement. After careful analysis to determine the root cause of the issue, action steps are implemented to correct deficiencies.

• Trip Advisor: We closely monitor our TripAdvisor link and other guest feedback websites to act upon guest satisfaction opportunities that may exist.

• CARE Rally: Every month, we take a break from our normal lunch in the cafeteria and express our appreciation for the staff by offering a themed upscale luncheon. With music, bingo, and prizes, we celebrate our success and the team members for their Caring, Attentive, Responsive and Empowered customer service.
• Breakfast with GM: Each month, the GM meets with representatives from each department — without their managers — to gather concerns and suggestions they have and commit a timeline to acting upon them.
• Safety Committee: Safety is of the utmost priority at the Doubletree Bethesda. We meet monthly to discuss our ongoing safety effort and to determine the safety needs of the hotel. Currently, our focus is H1N1 virus and what steps can be taken to reduce the risk of outbreaks.
• Annual Pool Party: The summer vacation season offers a great opportunity for all the employees and their families at the Doubletree Bethesda Pool Party. We provide food, music, and prizes for all ages.
• Annual Holiday Party: As a thank you for their hard work, we celebrate our employees and families with our annual holiday party. Team members enjoy a delicious meal, prizes, music, and even a visit from Santa Claus.
