Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) serves all branches of the military including the Army, Navy, and Air Force, and their families. It employs more than 8,000 doctors, nurses, technicians, and support staff. The main campus is located in Bethesda, Maryland, which is 243 acres, the largest medical center of its kind.

- Patient visiting hours vary by ward. Emergency Medicine is open 24/7 and located in Building 9A, Floor 1.

- Visitors are encouraged to use public transportation. If you must drive, parking is available in Bethesda's downtown public lots.

There are a variety of cafes and eateries at WRNMMC. The one place open 24/7 is the Flagship Vending Center in the Arrowhead Zone, Building 9, 1st floor.

History of Walter Reed National Military Medical Center
In 2011, the National Naval Medical Center (NNMC) was consolidated with Walter Reed Army Medical Center to form the Wallter Reed National Military Medical Center. WRNMMC took over the former NNMC. Pres. Franklin D. Roosevelt chose the Bethesda location for the original Naval medical center in 1938.
